The time it takes to build a new pool can vary widely depending on several factors, complexity of design, permitting processes, schedules from different contractors, weather conditions, and more.
But in general, the following should give you a basic guideline.

Above ground pools: Most times, these can be installed within a week. Building and installation would indeed be fastest on above-ground pools because there would be no need for digging or highly complicated building processes.

Fiberglass In-Ground Pools: Pre-fabricated fiberglass pools just require dropping into an already dug hole. It is typically finished in about two to three weeks, weather and permits permitting.

Vinyl-lined in-ground pools: When the vinyl line in-ground pool is used, the lining within the pool is usually a vinyl liner. Construction generally involves excavation, then forming a frame for a vinyl liner. That usually works for about 4 to 6 weeks on average.
